On October 18, 2024, the Xi'an High-tech Hospital was bustling with activity as a highly anticipated academic conference on spinal surgery was grandly held here. Experts, scholars, and medical staff from the field of spinal surgery gathered online from all over the country to discuss cutting-edge technologies and development trends in spinal surgery.

This event was jointly organized by the Spinal Surgery Department of Xi'an High-tech Hospital and the Spinal Surgery Department of Singapore General Hospital, hosted by Deputy Director Duan Hao of the Spinal Surgery Department of Xi'an High-tech Hospital. The aim was to deeply exchange the latest international "single-channel endoscopic" fusion technology, representing the forefront of spinal surgery academia. The organizing units of the conference also included: the Spinal Minimally Invasive Department of Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital, Henan Xincai Moon Bay Hospital, Northwest Spinal Endoscopy Alliance, and Spader Education Institute.

The theme of this academic conference was "Innovation, Development, Cooperation, and Win-Win," aimed at promoting academic exchange and technological innovation in the field of spinal surgery. The conference invited several spinal surgery experts from member units of the physician group to discuss cases, where they combined their rich clinical experience and encountered problems, delving into hot topics such as "endoscopic fusion" surgery and endoscopic treatment of "single-stage spinal tuberculosis."

The first phase of the conference focused on the topic of "case discussions on single-channel endoscopic fusion surgery." From the operational steps of standard single-channel endoscopy to summarizing problems encountered during surgery, six professors, including Professor Liang Qingfu from Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital, Professor Duan Hao from Xi'an High-tech Hospital, Professor Si Yulou from Yulin Xingyuan Hospital, Director Liang Peng from Chenggu County Second People's Hospital, Director Mei Wujing from Henan Xincai Moon Bay Hospital, and Director Han Shaofeng from Xi'an Gaoling District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, engaged in in-depth exchanges.

The second phase of the conference discussed topics related to spinal tuberculosis and spinal infection treatment. Led by Professor Fang Hailin from the Shaanxi Provincial Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Institute, five professors, including Professor Li Long from Weinan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Professor Zhang Weiliang from Xi'an People's Hospital, Professor Wang Xinga from Xi'an Daxing Hospital, and Professor Cao Yongcheng from Wuwei Liangzhou Hospital, presented cases and discussed treatment efficacy. Their common feature was that they researched a series of cases together with Professor Wei Jianmin, so during the discussion, the experts had a consensus on the description of surgical details, opening up new pathways and methods for endoscopic treatment of single-stage spinal tuberculosis. Professor Fang Hailin, a well-known professor in the tuberculosis field in the province, highly affirmed the endoscopic treatment plan proposed by Professor Wei Jianmin, believing that this plan could benefit patients by ensuring surgical efficacy while reducing patient suffering and shortening hospital stays (from the traditional 2 months to about 10 days).
The third phase of the conference was hosted by Professor Marcus Ling's team from Singapore General Hospital. First, their team shared an article on "one-year efficacy observation of single-stage full endoscopic intervertebral disc fusion surgery," detailing the physiological indicators statistics during surgery, postoperative radiological results, and long-term follow-up, providing the attending experts with detailed and reliable theoretical support for the surgery, which received unanimous praise.

Finally, Professor Kiang Lei from the Spinal Surgery Department of Singapore General Hospital introduced the basic situation of Singapore General Hospital, which is not only the largest and oldest hospital in Singapore but also its national hospital. The hospital has strong capabilities and ranks fourth in the world in academic medical rankings. The Spinal Surgery Department of Singapore General Hospital has formed a departmental alliance with the Spinal Surgery Department of Xi'an High-tech Hospital, and Professors Marcus Ling and Kiang Lei have also had the honor of becoming visiting professors of the Xi'an Wei Jianmin Physician Group, sharing academic experiences from abroad in the field of spinal surgery.

The atmosphere at the conference was lively, with participants actively asking questions and engaging in discussions. Experts patiently answered and shared their insights and experiences, bringing a wonderful academic feast to everyone. In addition, the conference also set up a Q&A session, where participants conducted in-depth analysis and discussion around actual cases, exploring the best treatment plans together. Participants in the discussion included Director Yao Yuanlin from Hunan Liling Yuanheng Hospital, Director Zhang Zheng from Gansu Tianshui 407 Hospital, Director Gao Liqiang from Yulin Minimally Invasive Surgery Hospital, and Director Wei Zhongjun from Xixiang New Oriental Hospital.

As the organizer of this conference, Xi'an High-tech Hospital provided strong support for its successful holding. The hospital has advanced medical equipment and a professional medical team, accumulating rich clinical experience in the field of spinal surgery. The convening of this academic conference further enhanced the hospital's influence and reputation in the field of spinal surgery.
